ALSO! Much love on the preamble to my essay. You are also one of my favorite writers.

Dad rock? DAD ROCK!? Ugh, Bernard, how dare you. When doves released their Ireland/UK tour for this year, I bought tickets for Dublin, Belfast, Cardiff, and Glasgow. The tour, as you're aware, did not happen. But would I do my own tour to follow them again? Dad rock, indeed.

American Music Club is criminally underrated. 30ish years ago, I tried to get people to like them with only middling success. Few weeks ago, I wrote about them with similar results.

Great guess post, by the way! Odd how shorty relationships and great records often go hand in hand.

To this day, The Judybats are still the nicest band I’ve ever seen play live. Unfailingly polite and seemed genuinely delighted by the crowd.

I have no recollection of that 'Gimme Shelter' project. It's astoundingly random. I kind of love all the versions. I've never heard a cover version of that song before and I always felt it was uncoverable in that way that some songs shouldn't be covered. Not only that, but they literally asked Samantha Fox to try doing the Merry Clayton vocals. And while she is no Merry Clayton, she's not exactly terrible at it. Bad, yes. But not terrible.

Always good! After such a clever hit with Stay Another Day East 17 one felt they had the nous to go from strength to strength. But it was the opposite.
